The WINS coaching program guides and supports women at an early career stage (Fellows, Clinical Instructors, Assistant Professors) with a professional interest in scleroderma.
The purpose of the WINS Coaching Program is to help women advance their career and gain access to knowledge, tools and opportunities unique to the field of scleroderma.
We will match you with an established scleroderma researcher or clinician with complimentary interests. You choose whether you want a coach working within or outside of your country.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the WINS coaching program. My coach and I met on a monthly basis since we were matched, and I have benefited tremendously from having a coach. We have discussed topics ranging from salary and start-up negotiations to navigating research during an emergency (LA Fires). My coach has also given me feedback on my research and has generously offered to share resources with me as my research continues. I was very fortunate to get to meet with my coach in person at ACR Convergence 2024, and she introduced me to several other leaders in scleroderma research at this meeting. Overall, I could not be happier with my experience in the WINS coaching program.

I had an absolutely fantastic coach. I very much appreciated that I was matched with a pulmonologist focused on ILD given my clinical interest in this area. My coach was extraordinarily helpful from a career development standpoint and gave very focused and honest advice. Since I am completing my 3rd year of fellowship with an ILD focus, she was able to provide great advice as to what to focus on and was also very helpful in the job search process (especially regarding what to look for in programs, what to look for in an early career job, and also background information about what she knew about various ILD programs) and her approach to negotiation. It was extremely valuable to get her perspective as an established ILD faculty member at another institution. I overall had an extremely positive experience with the coaching program and gained a lot from it! I cannot think of any particular obstacles.

Participating in the WINS coaching program has significantly contributed to my professional development. I was paired with a mentor who proved to be an ideal match for my career goals. Initially, I was uncertain about the appropriate meeting frequency and the scope of topics I should discuss and thus there was a big gap between our first and second meeting. However, after learning from another mentee they were meeting on a monthly basis, I was emboldened to reach out and schedule additional sessions. I greatly benefited from her expert guidance on career pathways, project ideas, and grant writing. Her warm, supportive, and professional demeanor fostered an environment that encouraged open and productive dialogue, and I look forward to sustaining this long-term relationship in the future.
